Our client is a well-established and profitable structural steel fabrication company based in Citrus County, Florida. In business since 2006, their 23-person team has a reputation for strong performance and is currently positioned for significant growth, to nearly double in size by 2026. The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Structural Steel Sales Estimator to join our team. This role is crucial for growth plans and will combine technical estimating expertise with a sales-driven mindset. You will play a key role in producing accurate and timely bids, managing a high volume of bid invitations, and strengthening relationships with our general contractor (GC) clients in Florida. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of estimating at least $6M annually and is ready to take ownership of their work and contribute to our expansion.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare Detailed Bids: Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate take-offs and cost estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection.
  • Manage the Bidding Process: Handle a high volume of bid invitations, identify the scope of work, and submit competitive, professional proposals.
  • Build Client Relationships: Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with general contractors and industry partners. This includes following up on bids and networking to identify new project opportunities.
  • Collaborate and Track: Work closely with project managers and detailers to ensure alignment on scope. You will also track bid opportunities and gather market intelligence.
  • Account Ownership: Manage accounts from the bidding process through follow-up.

Who You Are

  • Have at least 3 5 years of experience in structural steel estimating for a subcontractor or fabricator. Experience with both structural and miscellaneous steel (stairs and rails) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes. Proficiency with estimating software such as FabTrol, Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, or similar, and MS Office.
  • Proven ability to estimate at least $6M annually in projects.
  • Established relationships with general contractors in the Florida construction market.
  • A detail-oriented, proactive, and disciplined individual with excellent communication and negotiation skills.

The ideal candidate is currently an estimator for a fabricator doing business in Florida. You are not just a technical estimator but also a business partner who is ready to build relationships and proactively follow up on bids. You thrive in an environment where you are empowered to make decisions and take ownership of your work while contributing to a high-performing team. Preferred experience in detailing or with engineering drawings and a proven history of successfully networking and generating opportunities with GC partners.
